Abstract: Recent advancements in geodetic satellite observations for global, regional and local analysis of solid earth and atmosphere, pave a way to integrated, high-accuracy, high-fidelity, easy accessible, Earth Science data. The Leading Research Group SpaceOs@UPWr is conducting research in number of European, international and national projects. This presentation make an overview of our activities in: anthropogenic hazards domain, investigating mining tremors using LiDAR, InSAR and high rate GNSS; precise positioning using Galileo observations; sensing atmosphere using ground-based and space-based GNSS observations; retrieving global geodynamic information using integrated GNSS and SLR observations; advancing precise orbit determination; using AI for people mobility. Our goal is to make significant contribution to geodesy, remote sensing and Earth science, create sustainable connections to the best international centers of excellence.
Biography:
Witold Rohm (born 1981) is an associate professor at the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics, Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences (IGG UPWr www.igig.up.wroc.pl/igg), Wrocław, Poland. He received the Ph.D. degree in satellite geodesy from UPWr in 2011, and Doctor of Science in 2015. He spent 2 years as a Visiting Researcher and a Research Fellow within the SPACE Research Centre, Melbourne, Australia working on GNSS meteorology applications in severe weather monitoring (2011-2013). He was visiting researcher at MetOffice, United Kingdom, TU Vienna, Austria. He is actively working in the International Association of Geodesy as a Chair and co-Chair of GNSS tomography working group.
He is now deputy director of IGG UPWr, leading research in the GNSS processing and assimilation, InSAR deformations monitoring and spatial BigData analysis. He is head of SpaceOs Leading Research Group. Dr. Witold Rohm was a PI in a number of national projects supported by NCN, NCBiR and is co-supervising projects in H2020, NAWA and OPI. Prof. Rohm is a member of the Committee on Geodesy Polish Academy of Science.
He is an author or co-author of 40 papers published in JCR journals or peer-reviewed conference materials, related to geodesy, geophysics and big data processing.
